Was unable to breastfeed for the weekend and my supply is tanked — help!

Main Post:

I forgot to pack my pump and only had a haaka... previously I had plenty of supply and easily collected an extra 4-8 oz passively every day, and on days I needed help with him I would pump as he was bottle fed to maintain supply. I’m seriously freaked out — normally my letdown is a complete mess and I’m squirting all over. Now I just get a tingle and it requires effort to express any milk at all. I went from pumping 3-4 oz per breast to 1/2 oz. My baby is fussy and upset and I don’t know how to restimulate my supply ASAP. I have some in the freezer but just what I’ve been passively collecting recently (I do peer to peer donation) so I’m really worried. I also am having to move in the next two weeks so life has been stressful, but my supply was holding until this weekend. I feel like I seriously messed up by not pumping 😔

Edit for clarification — I am EBF but pump if the doula or my mom is coming to help with the baby during my move, have pumped if I was engorged or to help other moms, and otherwise use the haaka. My stash is not very large and will only last a few days with full time feeding. My baby has been very upset and fussy all last night and early this morning latching, and I only put it all together when I had a dry bed pad and handed over the baby and went to pump for the doula. Could use urgent help getting my supply back up as soon as I can

Top Comment: How old is your baby? Might be possible to rebuild depending on age. Latch on demand. Next time this happens, or for anyone reading, just run to Walmart or the drug store and get at least a manual pump!

Ate a bunch of junk and my supply went bananas

Main Post:

Well damn. I have been feeling really bad about my body lately, and have been trying to eat healthier and be more active to start losing some weight. I’m breastfeeding, and supplementing with formula (two bottles a day). I’m a just-enougher and don’t need a freezer stash or anything so I’m not concerned about my supply.

But we had a BBQ this weekend and I ate hotdogs, hamburgers, chips, potato salad, pasta salad, and Timbits and my milk supply the next day was CRAZY. Like it was shooting out of me, soaking the bed, drowning my baby. Insane amounts of milk.

It was a good reminder that my body has an important job to do right now and losing weight shouldn’t be a priority. I obviously won’t be eating like that every day, but I’ll be focusing on getting enough fat and protein, increasing my strength and stamina, and learning to be at peace with my body while I’m breastfeeding.

Top Comment: I’m reading the list of your junk like.. just a normal day at my house right now 🥲🥲
